A 21-year-old man has died following a shooting in the Belmont section of The Bronx, police said.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
An NYPD spokesperson said the department received a 911 call at around 6.15 p.m. on Monday, June 22, for a report of a shooting at 413 East 187th Street.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Upon arrival, they discovered a 21-year-old male who had been shot in the head. They said the victim was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital by EMS where he was pronounced deceased.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Police said there are no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
The identity of the deceased is pending family notification, police said.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Speaking in Spanish, one man at the scene said he heard one shot and came outside to see what happened but did not see the victim or the shooter.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Two other men, also speaking in Spanish, also said they heard one gunshot. One of the two men said he did see the victim lying face down on the street.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
Asked to describe him, he said he was young, was wearing jeans, a white top and that a baseball cap was seen on the ground near him.<\/p>\n

\u00c0 21-year-old male had also been shot in Belmont at East 187th Street and Cambreleng Avenue in April, as\u00a0 reported.<\/a><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n As also reported<\/a>, in nearby Fordham, one day prior, an NYPD sergeant and a civilian driver were hospitalized after an investigation into a stolen vehicle resulted in the sergeant getting hit by the stolen vehicle and the driver getting shot by another police officer, police said.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the NYPD\u2019s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
