A university in New York state is on lockdown after a man was shot in the neck on campus.<\/p>\n

SUNY Morrisville, located about 40 miles east of Syracuse, canceled all classes Monday night.<\/p>\n

At about 3:16pm, someone ‘hysterical’ called 911 to report a man wounded by a gunshot in the school’s South Hall, Syracuse.com<\/a> reported.\u00a0<\/p>\n

When police arrived, they found a 20-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the neck.<\/p>\n

The school established a command post to continue the investigation from campus as police forces work together to investigate the shooter.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The suspect remains at large.<\/p>\n

The school’s social media feed confirmed that evening classes were canceled and students were asked to shelter in place.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘Campus on Lockdown. All evening classes on the Morrisville campus have been cancelled,’ the school posted to social media.\u00a0<\/p>\n

‘Students in classes currently are required to remain in place. Please remain where you are until the lockdown has been lifted.’<\/p>\n

New York Governor Kathy Hochul<\/a> confirmed she was informed of the situation.<\/p>\n

‘I have been briefed on the shooting on campus at SUNY Morrisville,’ she wrote.<\/p>\n

‘New York State Police are assisting local law enforcement and SUNY leadership as they respond to this situation.’<\/p>\n

‘The campus remains on lockdown until further notice.’<\/p>\n

Morrisville is part of the extensive State University of New York system and has about 3,400 students enrolled.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
