Grammy-nominated R&B singer, songwriter, and actor\u00a0Luke James<\/a> will return to Broadway this fall in Wanted<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Previously titled Gun & Powder, Wanted will play the James Earl Jones Theatre. The production will begin previews October 15 prior to an official opening November 8.\u00a0Obie winner and Tony nominee Stevie Walker-Webb<\/a> is directing with choreography by\u00a0Chelsey Arce<\/a>.<\/p>\n

James will\u00a0star as Elijah, joining\u00a0previously announced stars\u00a0Solea Pfeiffer<\/a> (Hadestown, Gatsby: An American Myth) as Mary Clarke, Liisi LaFontaine<\/a> (Moulin Rouge! The Musical, Dreamgirls) as Martha Clarke, and 16-time Grammy-nominated R&B legend Ledisi as Tallulah Clarke. Pfeiffer and LaFontaine will\u00a0play Black twin sisters who passed as white in 1893 Texas.<\/p>\n

James is a three-time Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter who previously starred in Keenan Scott II<\/a>‘s\u00a0Thoughts of a Colored Man on Broadway in 2021. On screen, he\u00a0has appeared\u00a0in FOX’s musical drama\u00a0Star, HBO’s Insecure, and\u00a0The Chi.<\/p>\n

Wanted features a book and lyrics by Angelica Ch\u00e9ri<\/a> (descendant of the Sisters Clarke), music by Ross Baum<\/a>, and choreography by Chelsey Arce (Sweeney Todd revival, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child). Additional casting for the production, by Tara Rubin<\/a> and Olivia Paige West<\/a> of The TRC Company<\/a>, will be announced at a later date.<\/p>\n

Wanted: The Studio EP is available in digital and streaming formats. The five-song EP features \u201cWide Open Plains,\u201d \u201cThe Train,\u201d \u201cGun & Powder,\u201d \u201cThe Way I Am,\u201d and \u201cFreedom,\u201d performed by Pfeiffer, LaFontaine, and more.<\/p>\n

Under its original title, Gun & Powder, the musical played the Paper Mill Playhouse<\/a> in spring 2024. The cast included LaFontaine as Martha Clarke, Ciara Ren\u00e9e<\/a> as Mary Clarke, Jeannette Bayardelle<\/a> as Tallulah Clarke, Aaron James McKenzie<\/a> as Elijah, and Hunter Parrish<\/a> as Jesse Whitewater. Tiffany Rea-Fisher was the choreographer.<\/p>\n

A June 2025 workshop<\/a> featured Pfeiffer as Mary Clarke, LaFontaine as Martha Clarke, Will Swenson<\/a> as Jesse, James as Elijah, Jeannette Bayardelle as Tallulah, Jennie Harney-Fleming<\/a> as Flo, and Aurelia Williams as Sissy.<\/p>\n
