And while the city&#8217;s Department of Environmental Protection confirmed that wasn&#8217;t the case, some say the idea wasn&#8217;t far-fetched.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">&#8220;I know there&#8217;s a lot of sinkholes after [Superstorm] Sandy,&#8221; said one neighbor. &#8220;I notice it&#8217;s a sinkhole-prone area.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">National Grid said service in the area wasn&#8217;t impacted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A water main break in Canarsie left behind a massive opening in the road.
