NEW YORK CITY (PIX11) \u2014 It\u2019s primary election night<\/a> in New York City, and many key congressional seats hang in the balance.<\/p>\n

The polls close at 9 p.m., and results will start trickling in shortly after. PIX11 News is stationed across the city alongside candidates in highly anticipated races: NY-7, NY-10, NY-12 and NY-13.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, voters will choose their parties\u2019 candidates for the upcoming midterm election in November. Considering many New York City districts<\/a> consistently vote Democratic, these races will likely be decided in Tuesday\u2019s primary.<\/p>\n

All eyes are on the House of Representatives, which Republicans currently control. Democrats have a chance to flip control of the House, and confidently plan to.<\/p>\n

In New York City, it\u2019s a battle of the progressives. In the 10th District, which covers lower Manhattan and part of Brooklyn, incumbent Democrat Dan Goldman<\/a> is facing a tough challenge from Mayor Zohran Mamdani-endorsed Brad Lander.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a similar story to that of New York\u2019s 13th District<\/a>, which encompasses upper Manhattan and part of the Bronx. Incumbent Adriano Espaillat is facing a Democratic socialist challenger in Darializa Avila Chevalier, who also has Mamdani\u2019s support.<\/p>\n

In midtown Manhattan\u2019s 12th District,<\/a> four Democrats are fighting for the seat long held by Congressman Jerry Nadler. Polls showed state Assemblymembers Micah Lasher and Alex Bores breaking away with the lead.<\/p>\n

And in New York\u2019s 7th District<\/a>, a highly progressive area covering Williamsburg, Bushwick and Astoria, Democratic leaders are torn. Mamdani endorsed Democratic socialist Claire Valdez, while long-time outgoing Rep. Nydia Vel\u00e1zquez endorsed her competitor, Antonio Reynoso.<\/p>\n
