(Photo by Julie Sickel).<\/p>\n<p>Gary, who opened the popular Rockaway eatery with his wife, Joan, in 1989, was beloved in the community, donating food to so many worthy causes over the years, especially after Superstorm Sandy.\n<\/p>\n<p>On Facebook, local sommunity advocate Ozzie Edwards posted, \u201cThis one hurts. R.I.P. Gary Robinson (Goody\u2019s BBQ Chicken &amp; Ribs). Thank you for the great encouragement and conversations over the years, and the love you have for the community you serve. Thank you for trying to teach me golf and for just being a great human being. My family\u2019s condolences go out to Gary Robinson\u2019s family.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>Outside the restaurant on Amstel Boulevard, the family posted a sign, \u201cThank you to our wonderful community for your condolences.
