{"id":276130,"date":"2026-06-24T03:23:12","date_gmt":"2026-06-24T03:23:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/276130\/"},"modified":"2026-06-24T03:23:12","modified_gmt":"2026-06-24T03:23:12","slug":"assemblyman-micah-lasher-wins-crowded-democratic-house-primary-in-ny-12-cbs-news-projects","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/276130\/","title":{"rendered":"Assemblyman Micah Lasher wins crowded Democratic House primary in NY-12, CBS News projects"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>State Assemblyman Micah Lasher won the crowded primary race for New York&#8217;s 12th Congressional District, CBS News projects.<\/p>\n<p>He will face a number of candidates from other parties in November to replace\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/democratic-rep-jerry-nadler-retire-congress\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">retiring Rep. Jerry Nadler<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The district encompasses a large portion of Manhattan, including the Upper West Side and Upper East Side and Midtown neighborhoods. It&#8217;s one of the nation&#8217;s wealthiest districts.<\/p>\n<p>Lasher currently represents District 69 in Manhattan, covering Morningside Heights, Manhattan Valley and parts of the Upper West Side.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He was endorsed by Nadler, former Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Gov. Kathy Hochul.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>There were eight Democrats running, among them some very recognizable names. In addition to Lasher, the candidates were\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/newyork\/news\/alex-bores-artificial-intelligence-12th-congressional-district\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Alex Bores<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/george-conway-files-congress-run-new-york-democrat\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">George Conway<\/a>, Christopher Diep, Laura Dunn, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/newyork\/video\/full-interview-with-jack-schlossberg-on-running-for-congress-the-point-6-7-26\/?intcid=CNM-00-10abd1h\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jack Schlossberg<\/a>, Nina Schwalbe and Patrick Timmins.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/polls\/new-york-us-house-12-polls-2026.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">polls<\/a>\u00a0showed a tight race between Lasher, Bores and Schlossberg. An Emerson College poll from May showed Lasher and Bores as the leading contenders.<\/p>\n<p>Conway was also a familiar name in the election. He is well known as a conservative lawyer who turned into a vocal critic of President Trump.
