President Trump lambasted Gov. Hochul for \u201ckilling the entire region with energy prices\u201d \u2014 and threatened to get his transportation secretary to yank her much-hated congestion pricing plan that\u2019s turned the Big Apple into a \u201cghost town.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe entire State is going to hell, so the Federal Government will, of necessity, get involved!\u201d Trump railed on Truth Social one day before the high-stakes New York City mayoral election.<\/p>\n

In his Truth Social post, Trump claimed Hochul is \u201ckilling the entire region.\u201d Truth Social \/ @realDonaldTrump<\/p>\n

The commander in chief took aim at Hochul\u2019s congestion pricing \u2014 which charges drivers up to $27 in fees just to enter Manhattan \u2014 which she\u2019s claimed would reduce traffic and clean up the air.<\/p>\n

\u201cNew York City is getting KILLED by her ridiculous CONGESTION PRICING, where people have to pay a fortune to come into Manhattan \u2013 So they just don\u2019t come!\u201d the president ranted about the highly unpopular tax scheme that took effect in January.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe place is a ghost town,\u201d he fumed.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am going to ask our Transportation Secretary, Sean Duffy, to take a good, long look at terminating New York City Congestion Pricing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Duffy in February\u00a0wrote a letter to Hochul<\/a>\u00a0notifying her he was pulling federal approval of the program, which he called \u201ca slap in the face to working-class Americans and small business owners.\u201d<\/p>\n

President Trump at the time hailed congestion pricing as \u201cDEAD\u201d on Truth Social.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0administration demanded the MTA stop collecting the tolls on March 21, but Duffy announced a 30-day extension before the deadline expired as\u00a0negotiations continued<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In response, the\u00a0MTA almost immediately countersued<\/a>\u00a0the feds, dismissing the Trump administration\u2019s order as a \u201croyal decree.\u201d<\/p>\n

A Hochul spokesperson said defiantly at the time in response, \u201cthe cameras are staying on.\u201d<\/p>\n

Then in May, a\u00a0federal judge issued a temporary restraining<\/a>\u00a0order preventing the DOT from canceling the toll and enforcing any of the punitive \u201ccompliance measures\u201d previously laid out in its demands to kill the program until at least June 9.<\/p>\n

As a result of the TRO, the congestion pricing program is still active and the toll continues to be collected to this day.<\/p>\n

Trump further blamed Hochul for \u201ckilling the entire region\u201d with \u201cOUT OF CONTROL and expected to TRIPLE because she can\u2019t get an Upstate, and, separately, Long Island PIPELINE built,\u201d he said in reference to the failed Northeast Supply Enhancement (NESE) project, an expansion of a Williams Companies national gas pipeline meant to increase capacity in the New York City area.<\/p>\n
