{"id":276194,"date":"2026-06-24T04:27:53","date_gmt":"2026-06-24T04:27:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/276194\/"},"modified":"2026-06-24T04:27:53","modified_gmt":"2026-06-24T04:27:53","slug":"two-charged-after-nypd-officers-struck-by-stolen-vehicle-in-the-bronx","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/276194\/","title":{"rendered":"Two charged after NYPD officers struck by stolen vehicle in the Bronx"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Two people have been charged after multiple NYPD officers were struck by a stolen vehicle in the Bronx on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">18-year-old Jayden Mendoza, who was driving the stolen vehicle, is charged with attempted murder, police said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">20-year-old passenger Angel Robles was charged with criminal possession of a weapon, police said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Officials say the officers were tracking the silver Kia Sportage on East Fordham Road around 6 p.m. Sunday. The car, with New Jersey plates, was reported stolen the day before and officers were alerted by a license plate reader that the stolen car had been detected.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Unmarked police cars surrounded the car after it pulled over and officers then told the driver and passenger to exit the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The driver, Mendoza, then started to drive back and forth recklessly, hitting a police sergeant who was standing outside the car. Multiple other officers were also struck. They were all taken to area hospitals in stable condition.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Another officer then jumped on top of the Kia and shot Mendoza in the arm.
