As World Cup excitement builds across the New York metropolitan area, a new soccer-themed festival is preparing to welcome fans in Brooklyn.<\/p>\n
House of Goal, billed by organizers as New York\u2019s largest soccer culture festival, will open July 3 in Industry City and run through July 19.<\/p>\n
The free event is designed to celebrate the global culture surrounding soccer through watch parties, food, art, fashion and live entertainment.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s all about creating environments where we can enjoy ourselves with family and friends,\u201d said Ilan Telmont, founder of House of Yes, which is helping produce the event.<\/p>\n
Workers are putting the finishing touches on the space, which organizers say will serve as a family-friendly World Cup pop-up experience.<\/p>\n
In addition to screening matches on a large outdoor screen, the festival will feature youth soccer clinics, summer camps, street soccer matches and live podcast recordings.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s not centered around any one game,\u201d Telmont said. \u201cIt\u2019s really meant to embrace the culture of soccer.\u201d<\/p>\n
Food will also play a major role in the festival.<\/p>\n
Twelve vendors are expected to offer dishes inspired by countries from around the world.<\/p>\n
\u201cFood is such a huge component of these events,\u201d said Brooklyn-based Michelin-starred chef Akhtar Nawab. \u201cWe wanted to create a global palate that reflects the spirit of the World Cup.\u201d<\/p>\n
Organizers say the event aims to create an international experience that mirrors the diversity of the tournament and its fans.<\/p>\n
The event will be located at 51 34th St., Brooklyn, NY 11232.<\/p>\n
