GALLATIN, N.Y. \u2014 A Red Hook man died Sunday after losing control of his motorcycle and striking a car head-on, state police said Wednesday.<\/p>\n
At about 8:30 p.m. Sunday, June 21, Nicholas H. Hedges, 30, of Red Hook, lost control of a 2014 Ducati motorcycle in the vicinity of Jackson Corners and Hoefer roads in this Columbia County town.<\/p>\n
State police at Livingston responded to the collision after being dispatched by Columbia County 911.<\/p>\n
The motorcycle slid from the eastbound lane into the westbound lane, where it struck a 2025 Kia head-on, according to authorities. The Kia was driven by Michael Mojica, 43, of Elizaville.<\/p>\n
Mojica and the front seat passenger in the Kia were taken to Columbia Memorial Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Hedges was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n
