MasterVoices has announced programming for the 2025-26 season, the company’s 85th anniversary. The season will take the choral ensemble, led by Artistic Director Ted Sperling<\/a>, to Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Perelman Performing\u00a0Arts Center.<\/p>\n

The season will open December 15 with a celebration of Handel at Carnegie Hall, conducted by Sperling.\u00a0Soprano Erin Morley and countertenor\u00a0Jakub J\u00f3zef Orli\u0144ski will join the MasterVoices Chorus and New York Baroque Incorporated to perform selections from Handel’s operas and oratorios, including\u00a0Samson, Theodoroa, Semele, and\u00a0Giulio Cesare.<\/p>\n

On April 1, 2027, the MasterVoices Chorus will take part in VOX: American Voices Opera Lab,\u00a0a collaboration with American\u00a0Composers Orchestra,\u00a0Beth Morrison Projects, the Metropolitan Opera,\u00a0Manhattan School of Music, Mannes School of Music, and\u00a0PAC NYC. The evening at the Perelman Arts Center will feature excerpts from new operas by contemporary American composers. The performances will feature singers from the Metropolitan Opera’s Lindemann Young\u00a0Artist Development Program, the Manhattan School of Music, and the Mannes School of Music.<\/p>\n

The season will close out April 26, 2027 with\u00a0Hammerstein’s Broadway at David Geffen Hall’s Wu Tsai Theater at Lincoln Center. Featuring Broadway soloists to be announced, the tribute to Oscar Hammerstein II<\/a> will include selections from the librettist’s well-known collaborations with composers Jerome Kern<\/a> and Richard Rodgers<\/a>, as well as his earlier operettas with music by\u00a0Sigmund Romberg<\/a> and Rudolf Friml<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Said Sperling:\u00a0\u201cOur upcoming season celebrates two artists who were immensely successful at capturing the imagination of their respective audiences, but who had to change course midstream in their careers to adjust to changing tastes and standards. In the process of reinventing themselves as creators, they found new depths of feeling and new forms in which to express those feelings; Handel invented the English oratorio, and Hammerstein revolutionized the American musical; how grateful are we to be able to celebrate these two titans of theatrical music making!\u201d<\/p>\n
