Before the Satmar Hasidic community delivered its public endorsement of Cuomo, Rabbi Moshe Indig \u2013 another leader in the Williamsburg-based faction \u2013 claimed in a post to a local website that the community was supporting Mamdani, Jewish media outlet Belaaz reported, citing insiders.<\/p>\n

Sources told Belaaz that Indig\u2019s endorsement was \u201ctotally unauthorized\u201d and done behind the backs of other community leaders.<\/p>\n
Even so, Mamdani quickly embraced Indig\u2019s announcement, sharing it on X Sunday.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was honored to receive the endorsement of Rabbi Moshe Indig and Ahronim leaders in Williamsburg today,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n
\u201cTogether, we will fight the scourge of antisemitism and build a city that works for every New Yorker,\u201d Mamdani said.<\/p>\n
Berkowitz, Brach and Jacobowitz, meanwhile, warned that \u201ceverything we value and what we stand for is at stake\u201d in their statement.<\/p>\n
\u201cEach of us must do everything in our power to protect and preserve our values, communities, yeshivas and way of life,\u201d the statement continued.<\/p>\n
