The New York New Jersey Host Committee for the World Cup forecast that the eight World Cup at MetLife Stadium would bring 1.2 million visitors to the region<\/p>\n
However, the tournament comes after a report last year showed a decline in the number of international visitors.<\/p>\n
Nancy Mammana, chief marketing officer at New York City Tourism + Conventions, joined NY1 anchor Shannan Ferry on \u201cNews All Day\u201d to discuss if the World Cup is living up to expectations.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are feeling cautiously optimistic,\u201d Mammana said. \u201cWe know that there are international headwinds up against travel across the United States.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mammana says hotel occupancy in the city was at 90% for the first week of the World Cup and international tourism is up slightly this month.\u00a0<\/p>\n
