There is no alternative with the NBA\u2019s youngest roster and a losing streak with no end in sight.<\/p>\n<p>But on a night when three of their record-setting five first-round picks didn\u2019t see action until garbage time, 21-year-old Noah Clowney made his strongest statement of the season about his place in the team\u2019s rebuilding plans, putting up a season-high 15 points, six rebounds and two steals in the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/11\/03\/sports\/nets-stronger-showing-not-enough-vs-timberwolves-as-skid-hits-seven\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nets\u2019 125-109 loss to the Timberwolves <\/a>at Barclays Center.<\/p>\n<p>Clowney, a 2023 first-round pick out of Alabama, entered the game averaging just 4.3 points on 23.3 percent shooting from the field, but the 6-foot-10 forward made the most of his first start of the season, filling in for Michael Porter Jr., who was out due to personal reasons.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.50146628;display:block\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"37567858\" width=\"886\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/brooklyn-nets-forward-noah-clowney-114750790.jpg\" alt=\"Brooklyn Nets forward Noah Clowney (21) boxes out against Minnesota Timberwolves forward Jaden McDaniels (3) during the first half at Barclays Center.\" class=\"wp-image-37567858\"  \/>Brooklyn Nets forward Noah Clowney (21) boxes out against Minnesota Timberwolves forward Jaden McDaniels (3) during the first half at Barclays Center. John Jones-Imagn Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m really proud of Noah with how aggressive he was and how he played,\u201d Nets head coach Jordi Fern\u00e1ndez said. \u201cThat\u2019s the Noah that we want, the fight and physicality. I thought he did very well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Clowney helped spark an early Nets lead, forcing turnovers and diving on the floor. The third-year big also was 4-of-12 shooting 3-pointers after missing nine straight attempts in his previous three games.<\/p>\n<p>Before the game, Fern\u00e1ndez met with Clowney, and delivered a simple message.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJust play hard,\u201d Clowney relayed. \u201cMy mindset was just to play hard and not think about the other stuff. \u2026 I made it a point to get engaged on the defensive end and I think the shots fell because I was more locked in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fern\u00e1ndez said he does not expect Porter to miss additional time. Through six games, the longtime Nuggets forward was averaging multiple career highs, leading the Nets in rebounds (8.0) and assists (3.0), while only trailing Cam Thomas in scoring (20.8) \u2026 Drake Powell (right ankle sprain) was also out after suffering an injury in Sunday\u2019s loss to the 76ers, but Fern\u00e1ndez expects the rookie to return soon.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\tFollow all the basketball buzz in Brooklyn\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p class=\"inline-module__cta\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSign up for Inside the Nets by Brian Lewis, exclusively on Sports+.\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\tThank you\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re not concerned,\u201d Fern\u00e1ndez said. \u201cActually, [when] he sprained it last time, he came back pretty quick.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Danny Wolf returned from an ankle injury to make his NBA debut.
