Variety and Google TV\u2019s Industry Innovators event <\/a>at Cannes Lions, the Hall of Famer spoke about\u00a0 Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet\u2018s fandom.<\/p>\n\u201cI actually gave him an award \u2014 my \u2018Favorite White Boy\u2019 award,\u201d Anthony told Variety\u2019s co-president and co-editor-in-chief Ramin Setoodeh . \u201cHe was happy about that. And he appreciated it because I shined some light on what he really wanted in that moment.\u201d<\/p>\n
Anthony also spoke about the other legendary Knicks fans.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have the OGs. The Spike Lees, the Ben Stillers of the world,\u201d said Anthony. \u201cThen we have this new generation, like Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet. He\u2019s running around representing the Knicks to the fullest. And then you have the Fat Joes, who\u2019ve been supporting the Knicks for a long, long time.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
Anthony, who starred for the Knicks from 2010-2017, said New York City was \u201creignited\u201d by the team.<\/p>\n
The NBC basketball analyst also talked about his successful podcast \u201c7 PM in Brooklyn.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI get a chance to build something. To build a community and add to the culture, to be an authentic voice in our culture,\u201d he said. \u201cI have that access, and I get to hold the door open and give people access to come in and be part of what\u2019s actually going on.\u201d<\/p>\n
After 19 years in the NBA, Anthony said he was more than equipped to be an entrepreneur.<\/p>\n
\u201cI learned how to deal with organizations, organizational structure, and understanding what the front office and execs need to do for us as players to be successful,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd I was the face of a lot of brands. I was the subject of a lot of narratives.
