USA Today<\/a>, the store opening is part of wider growth for B&N, which now boasts 712 bookstores \u2014 a significant increase since dipping below 600 stores in 2023.<\/p>\n\u201cBarnes & Noble is enjoying a period of tremendous growth as the strategy to hand control of each bookstore to its local booksellers has proven so successful,\u201d the bookstore chain said in a statement. \u201cIn 2024, Barnes & Noble opened more new bookstores in a single year than it had in the whole decade from 2009 to 2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

The company opened dozens of stores in 2025 and plans to open stores in Ohio, Texas, Florida, Illinois, Colorado, Washington state, California, Virginia, Georgia and D.C., USA Today reported. Barnes & Noble currently operates one Staten Island store, located in the Staten Island Mall in New Springville.<\/p>\n
