{"id":279791,"date":"2026-06-27T11:22:54","date_gmt":"2026-06-27T11:22:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/279791\/"},"modified":"2026-06-27T11:22:54","modified_gmt":"2026-06-27T11:22:54","slug":"exploring-nyc-with-eva-discovering-lithos-a-mediterranean-escape-in-lower-manhattan","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/279791\/","title":{"rendered":"Exploring NYC with Eva \u2013 Discovering Lithos \u2013 A Mediterranean Escape in Lower Manhattan"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u2018\u0393\u03b5\u03b9\u03b1 \u03c3\u03b1\u03c2 and \u03ba\u03b1\u03bb\u03c9\u03c3\u03ae\u03c1\u03b8\u03b1\u03c4\u03b5\u2019 to another weekend of Exploring NYC with Eva!<\/p>\n<p>I hope you\u2019re all having a great start to the summer, are soaking up the sun, and looking forward to the next few months ahead.<\/p>\n<p>From <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenationalherald.com\/a-sea-of-blue-and-orange-tnh-joins-celebration-of-new-york-knicks-historic-championship-win\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Knicks<\/a> celebrations and a jam-packed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenationalherald.com\/over-2500-greek-americans-gathered-for-greek-jersey-night-at-yankee-stadium\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Yankee Stadium<\/a> full of Greeks to the opening of fro-yo spots like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenationalherald.com\/exploring-nyc-with-eva-tasting-the-magic-of-mythos-fro-yo-straight-from-aruba\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mythos<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenationalherald.com\/start-spreading-the-news-myka-greek-frozen-yogurt-is-making-its-new-york-debut\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Myka<\/a>, a newly opened Greek-owned pharmacy in Roslyn, and more wine dinners and restaurant debuts, this summer has already been packed with exciting adventures \u2013\u00a0 with much more to come.<\/p>\n<p>That said, this week\u2019s focus is on a new Greek restaurant I came across in the Sout Street Seaport neighborhood of Manhattan \u2013 Lithos Mediterranean Cuisine.<\/p>\n<p>This restaurant is owned and operated by three business partners, including brothers Dimitrios and Argyrios Cane (Canellopoulos), and opened on March 31, earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-575504\" class=\"size-large wp-image-575504\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/IMG_3987-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\"  \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-575504\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The bar at Lithos Mediterranean Cuisine (Photo: Evelyn Karatzas)<\/p>\n<p>Upon entering, you instantly feel like you\u2019ve traded New York for a Greek island, where you\u2019re mesmerized by coastal-inspired decor, warm lighting, and an ambient atmosphere that makes you feel like you\u2019re sitting at a seaside taverna in Greece with its indoor-outdoor seating options. They also have olive trees all over the restaurant, paying tribute to the Cane brothers\u2019 roots of Kalamata, Greece.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-575507\" class=\"size-large wp-image-575507\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/IMG_3952-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\"  \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-575507\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Olive trees added a distinctly Greek feel to the restaurant\u2019s d\u00e9cor (Photo: Evelyn Karatzas)<\/p>\n<p>Speaking with Dimitrios Cane, he expressed that the restaurant combines traditional Greek food and a modern setting and noted how \u201cwe originally chose this area because there is no Greek restaurant in this area \u2013 it\u2019s the first Greek restaurant here that\u2019s modern, with a bit of a traditional touch, with great food and a great ambiance.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you go elsewhere, like Midtown or Uptown, there are thousands of Greek restaurants, however here, you have something different \u2013 something one-of-a-kind, something unique,\u201d Cane said.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-575506\" class=\"size-large wp-image-575506\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/IMG_4007-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\"  \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-575506\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The horiatiki salad and calamari at Lithos Mediterranean Cuisine (Photo: Evelyn Karatzas)<\/p>\n<p>With the goal of offering guests \u201cGreek cuisine and a Greek ambience,\u201d Lithos has crafted a menu that showcases a great selection of traditional dishes from both the land and the sea.<\/p>\n<p>Among the menu highlights are the Mediterranean crudo, oysters, Greek ceviche, and tuna tartare from the raw bar; mezze plates including saganaki, spanakopita, garides saganaki, grilled octopus, calamarakia, loukaniko, and midia achnista (steamed mussels); and a variety of fresh Greek salads.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-575503\" class=\"size-large wp-image-575503\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/IMG_1840-768x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\"  \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-575503\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The entrance to Lithos Mediterranean Cuisine (Photo: Evelyn Karatzas)<\/p>\n<p>The entr\u00e9e selection additionally features classic dishes such as lavraki, king prawns, paidakia, kotopoulo souvlaki, seafood orzo, ribeye, and the Lithos Burger, among many others.<\/p>\n<p>One thing that stood out to me was the restaurant\u2019s $29 per person lunch prix fixe menu, which includes the choice of an appetizer, main course and dessert \u2013 what a great option when out and about in the city!<\/p>\n<p>Another highlight upon visiting was Lithos\u2019 impressive cocktail menu which featured seven signature drinks including the Lithos Pineapple Tini, Aegean Breeze, Paros Paradise, Santorini Sunrise, Mediterranean Spritz, Mykonos Old Fashioned, and the Athenian Garden. The restaurant also offers a variety of Greek wines and beers, adding to that authentic offering of Greece.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-575511\" class=\"size-large wp-image-575511\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/IMG_3982-1024x768.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"768\"  \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-575511\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The indoor seating area at Lithos Mediterranean Cuisine (Photo: Evelyn Karatzas)<\/p>\n<p>I was lucky enough to try the Lithos Pineapple Tini which consisted of tequila blanco, pineapple juice, agave, lime juice, spicy bitters and Tajin rim, and it was such a delicious and refreshing drink \u2013 perfect for the summer. I also enjoyed a serve of the horiatiki salad and fried calamari, and I have to say, the portions were so generous, and the flavors were so fresh.<\/p>\n<p>As someone who has been working in the hospitality industry since the age of 15, Cane expressed what he loved most about it, noting how \u201cit\u2019s never the same day \u2013 it\u2019s always something different.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou meet different people every day, and it never gets boring,\u201d Cane said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s something that\u2019s always exciting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-575509\" class=\"size-large wp-image-575509\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/IMG_4004-768x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"768\" height=\"1024\"  \/><\/p>\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-575509\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Lithos Pineapple Tini and the Mediterranean Spritz cocktails at Lithos Mediterranean Cuisine (Photo: Evelyn Karatzas)<\/p>\n<p>As a restaurant that\u2019s only been open for a few months, Cane expressed how the response so far has been very positive, with people coming from all over New York and New Jersey to taste Lithos\u2019 dishes.<\/p>\n<p>When asked what he thinks sets his restaurant apart from others, he shared: \u201cI believe the food. It\u2019s something nice.
