Fans in the Bronx described\u00a0on Sunday how the championship aligned with major life moments.<\/p>\n
\u201cYesterday was my birthday and they won yesterday June 13, they won for my birthday. That\u2019s what I wanted for my birthday,\u201d said Luis Ramirez.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe last championship was when I graduated from high school so that tells you how old I am, soI\u2019m really excited,\u201d said Mary Randolph.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was at prom, game four, it was great I loved it…Brunson hit the three, OG made the comeback, I loved it,\u201d said\u00a0high school student Kenneth White.<\/p>\n
The Knicks\u2019 run also brought back memories of past playoff heartbreak, including the 2021 postseason when the Knicks faced the Atlanta Hawks.\u00a0Derrick Rose\u00a0played a key role for New York during that stretch, while\u00a0Trae Young\u00a0helped lead Atlanta to the series win.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s unfortunate we lost that series. I know we were favored but same time it was the stepping stone we needed to get to where we are today,\u201d said Angel Avila, of\u00a0Highbridge.<\/p>\n
