{"id":280922,"date":"2026-06-29T09:58:12","date_gmt":"2026-06-29T09:58:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/280922\/"},"modified":"2026-06-29T09:58:12","modified_gmt":"2026-06-29T09:58:12","slug":"news-12-brooklyn-13-injured-driver-charged-after-three-wheeled-motorcycle-crashes-into-crowd-at-commodore-barry-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/280922\/","title":{"rendered":"News 12 | Brooklyn | 13 Injured Driver Charged After Three Wheeled Motorcycle Crashes Into Crowd At Commodore Barry Park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">A woman is facing charges after police say a <a data-rich-text-hyperlink=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/brooklyn.news12.com\/10-people-injured-after-being-struck-by-motorized-scooter-inside-brooklyn-park\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">three-wheeled motorcycle <\/a>crashed into people gathered inside Commodore Barry Park on Sunday evening, leaving 13 people injured.<\/p>\n<p>Police say the crash happened just before 6:40 p.m. near Flushing Avenue inside the park.<\/p>\n<p>Authorities now say 12 people who were in the park were injured, along with the driver, bringing the total number of injured to 13. All were taken to area hospitals.<\/p>\n<p>Video from the scene showed the three-wheeled Can-Am motorcycle with a chair wedged in its front wheel after the crash.<\/p>\n<p>Witnesses told News 12 a family was eating dinner in the park when the driver lost control and crashed into people nearby.<\/p>\n<p>Police have arrested 53-year-old Neisha Atkinson, of Brooklyn, in connection with the crash.<\/p>\n<p>She is charged with two counts of reckless endangerment, reckless driving, failing to yield to pedestrians and improper licensing.<\/p>\n<p>One man who says he knows the driver told News 12 he believes she simply lost control of the motorcycle.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;She just got the bike, so she probably wanted to make a first impression that she got a new bike, but it just got away from her,&#8221; he said. &#8220;Everybody knows you can&#8217;t ride a bike through here. I consider that&#8217;s a motor vehicle. That&#8217;s a motorcycle.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Police have not said what caused the driver to lose control.
