Former Vice President Dick Cheney has died, his family announced early Tuesday. He was 84.<\/p>\n
Cheney, who served two terms as vice president under President George W. Bush, died\u00a0\u201cdue to complications of pneumonia and cardiac and vascular disease,\u201d his family said in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis beloved wife of 61 years, Lynne, his daughters, Liz and Mary, and other family members were with him as he passed,\u201d the Cheneys said.<\/p>\n
\u201cDick Cheney was a great and good man who taught his children and grandchildren to love our country, and to live lives of courage, honor, love, kindness, and fly fishing,\u201d his family said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are grateful beyond measure for all Dick Cheney did for our country. And we are blessed beyond measure to have loved and been loved by this noble giant of a man.\u201d<\/p>\n
Cheney, a former Wyoming lawmaker and defense secretary, was widely considered to be one of the architects of the Iraq War and responsible for convincing Bush to invade the Middle Eastern country.<\/p>\n
