Brooklyn had many fitness based openings this month \u2013 including a pilates studio in Park Slope, an indoor pickleball gym and basketball center in Greenpoint, a bouldering gym in DUMBO and a barre studio in Downtown Brooklyn. Families can also check out a new head spa in Boerum Hill, a bridge for pedestrians and cyclists in Gowanus, a permanent jewelry boutique in Bay Ridge, a makerspace for kids and adults in Sunset Park, and more!<\/p>\n

Brooklyn Uprising, a new indoor bouldering gym, has opened at 20 John Street in DUMBO, across from Brooklyn Bridge Park. The facility (ages 16+ only) offers bouldering walls, strength-training equipment, locker rooms with showers, and a cedar sauna, along with optional climbing coaching and personal training. Memberships start at $135 per month, with additional day pass and punch pass options<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Another 27,0000-square-foot location of Lidl is slated to open soon on the ground floor of 597 Grand Street in Williamsburg. The new store will occupy a mixed-use retail and residential building between Leonard and Lorimer Streets, which was the former site of a Key Foods. Similar to Trader Joe\u2019s and Aldi, Lidl offers a broad assortment of products, including its 49-cent butter croissants, private-label Butcher\u2019s Specialty meats, and Bon Gelati mini ice cream bars. Shoppers can also find gourmet favorites like frozen tiramisu, aged Parmigiano Reggiano, and authentic prosciutto.<\/p>\n

Arizona College of Nursing<\/a> is opening its first New York campus after signing a 10-year lease for 40,000 square feet at 532 Fulton Street in Downtown Brooklyn. The Glendale, Arizona\u2013based school will occupy the sixth through eighth floors of the Paxton, a 43-story mixed-use tower near Borough Hall and MetroTech.<\/p>\n

Whole Foods<\/a> | Cobble Hill | Opening date TBA<\/p>\n

According to Crain\u2019s<\/a>, Whole Foods has signed a lease to take over the corner storefront at 182 Smith Street between Warren Street and Wyckoff Street, right on the border of Cobble Hill and Boerum Hill. The approximately 35,000 square feet space was recently vacated by Rite Aid following the pharmacy chain\u2019s ongoing bankruptcy closures. While rumors of a grocery store taking over the spot have been swirling, the newly inked lease confirms that the national grocer is planting its flag on Smith Street. Because the lease was just signed, there is no official timeline yet for the build-out or opening day.<\/p>\n

Prospect Park Vale<\/a> | Prospect Park | Reopening 2027<\/p>\n

The Prospect Park Vale restoration began this month and expects to conclude in 2027. This $37.5 million, 8-acre project is the single largest capital allocation to Prospect Park since Lakeside back in 2010-2013. A new children\u2019s nature exploration area is part of the design!<\/p>\n
