WATERBURY – A New York City man was arrested on Sunday after firing a gun into the air near Chase Avenue, police say.<\/p>\n
In a release Sunday night,\u00a0Waterbury<\/a> police Sgt. Joseph Morais said William Pichardo, a 51-year-old from the Bronx, was charged with second-degree breach of peace, unlawful discharge of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment, illegal sale or transfer of a firearm and carrying a pistol or revolver without a permit.<\/p>\n Pichardo was held on a $500,000 bond and will be arraigned Monday morning, Morais said.<\/p>\n Officers responded to the area of Chase Avenue and Cooke Street for a report of shots fired at 1:53 p.m., he said. At the scene, officers located several spent shell casings in the road, Morais said.<\/p>\n No property damage was observed to the surrounding area, he said, adding there were no reported victims or victims located. He said officers learned throughout the course of their investigation that a man had discharged a firearm into the air during an isolated disturbance.<\/p>\n Morais said officers identified the suspect as Pichardo and arrested him.<\/p>\n
