Liza! at 80: A Celebration in Song and Dance, Transport Group’s celebration of Liza Minnelli<\/a>‘s 80th birthday, was presented June 25 at Carnegie Hall. Check out photos from the starry evening\u2014the 12th presentation in the Off-Broadway company\u2019s Anne L.

Emmy winner Mo Rocca<\/a> (CBS Sunday Morning) and Tony, Grammy, and Emmy winner Marc Shaiman<\/a> (Hairspray) hosted the one-night-only event, which included a performance by Minnelli’s sister, Lorna Luft<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Also paying tribute to the stage and screen icon were Kate Baldwin<\/a> (Hello, Dolly!<\/a>), Lauren Blackman<\/a> (Ragtime<\/a>), Mario Cantone<\/a> (Assassins<\/a>), Tony winner Kristin Chenoweth<\/a> (Wicked<\/a>), Nikki Ren\u00e9e Daniels<\/a> (Once Upon a Mattress<\/a>), Damon Daunno<\/a> (Oklahoma!<\/a>),\u00a0Dez Duron<\/a> (Maybe Happy Ending<\/a>), Claybourne Elder<\/a> (Company<\/a>),\u00a0Robyn Hurder<\/a> (Moulin Rouge!), Tony winner Bonnie Milligan<\/a> (Kimberly Akimbo<\/a>), two-time Tony winner Donna Murphy<\/a> (Passion<\/a>, The King and I<\/a>), Tony winner\u00a0Lauren Patten<\/a> (Jagged Little Pill<\/a>), Khori Petinaud (Just in Time<\/a>), Andrew Rannells<\/a> (The Book of Mormon<\/a>), Elizabeth Stanley<\/a> (Jagged Little Pill), Tony winner\u00a0Ali Stroker<\/a> (Oklahoma!),\u00a0Alysha Umphress<\/a> (On the Town), Jessica Vosk<\/a> (Beaches), Marisha Wallace<\/a> (Guys and Dolls), and Natalie Weiss<\/a> (American Idol).\u00a0<\/p>\n

Guest speakers included Emmy winner Candice Bergen<\/a> (Murphy Brown), Jim Caruso<\/a> (Liza\u2019s at The Palace!), Nicole Fosse<\/a> (Fosse\/Verdon), Special Tony recipient Julie Halston<\/a>, Isaac Mizrahi<\/a> (Chicago<\/a>), five-time Tony winner Susan Stroman<\/a> (The Producers<\/a>, Contact<\/a>), and\u00a0Pulitzer Prize and Tony winner Doug Wright<\/a> (I Am My Own Wife<\/a>).<\/p>\n

The evening was directed by Transport Group Artistic Director
\nJack Cummings III, with musical direction by Joey Chancey. Hannah Oren
\nserved as creative producer, and Merri Sugarman<\/a> served as casting
\ndirector, with
\noriginal arrangements by Chancey and orchestrations by Adam Jones.
\nAdditional choreography was by Nancy Ren\u00e9e Braun<\/a> and Alex Sanchez<\/a>. The
\nscript was written by EGOT winner Minnelli, created with Oren.<\/p>\n

The all-star tribute concert celebrated Minnelli\u2019s
\n more-than-60-year career and featured\u00a0musical selections spanning her
\nentire body of work with a focus on her collaborations with John Kander<\/a>
\nand Fred Ebb<\/a>, including Cabaret; The Rink; Liza With a \u201cZ\u201d; and New York, New York. The concert also celebrated the recent publication of her memoir, Kids, Wait Till You Hear This! Each attendee received a copy of the memoir, autographed by Minnelli.<\/p>\n

Concertgoers were also treated to\u00a0backstage stories and anecdotes as well
\nas selections of Bob Fosse<\/a>‘s choreography reconstructed by The Verdon
\nFosse Legacy.<\/p>\n

\u201cI
\n am grateful and honored that my collaborators and career are being
\ncelebrated at Carnegie Hall this summer. Transport Group is a brilliant
\ncreative force, and their tributes are always filled with equal measures
\n of talent, heart, and music. I believe this will be a magical evening,
\nand I hope to see all my New York friends at the performance. It was
\nplanned as a birthday party for me, and my calendar made June 25th the
\nperfect date. Turning 80 means you celebrate your birthday as long as
\npossible,\u201d said Minnelli, whose 80th birthday was March 12, in an earlier statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are incredibly honored to celebrate Liza Minnelli\u2019s extraordinary artistry and career,\u201d added Cummings III. \u201cMs. Minnelli
\n has inspired countless artists and audiences alike with her
\ngroundbreaking work, and this evening will be our chance to say a
\ntremendous thank-you for everything she has given us.\u201d<\/p>\n

The concert was Transport Group\u2019s third concert at Carnegie Hall, following sold-out benefit performances of Hello, Dolly! in 2025 and Follies in 2024. <\/p>\n
