One of the Mets\u2019 premier acquisitions this past offseason, infielder Bo Bichette has quickly become part of the Amazins\u2019 terrible year<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Last season, Bichette helped carry Toronto to the World Series. Now, he\u2019s stuck at the bottom of the NL East<\/a>, dealing with a dysfunctional front office that recently fired manager Carlos Mendoza.<\/p>\n

Back in Toronto as the road-weary Mets opened a three-game series against his former team Monday, Bichette was asked what returning to Rogers Centre meant to him.<\/p>\n

And the waterworks began.<\/p>\n

Speaking to reporters, Bichette said he gave Toronto \u201ceverything he had.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cI don\u2019t know what to expect \u2026 I gave it everything I had \u2026 I just hope that\u2019s appreciated.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Mets\u2019 season has spiraled despite the additions of Bichette and Juan Soto<\/a>, while former cornerstones Pete Alonso and Brandon Nimmo are gone.<\/p>\n

With Mendoza out, frustrated Mets fans have increasingly<\/a> turned their attention to President of Baseball Operations David Stearns, whose offseason overhaul has produced more questions than wins.<\/p>\n

Things were supposed to work out in Queens. Bichette\u2019s acquisition was seen as the Mets\u2019 response after watching the Dodgers take another bite out of free agency by signing Kyle Tucker \u2026 though Tucker hasn\u2019t quite panned out at Chavez, either.<\/p>\n

Bichette was a two-time All-Star in Toronto.<\/p>\n

During the Blue Jays\u2019 World Series run, Bichette batted .348 with a .444 on-base percentage despite battling a late-season knee injury. His Game 7 three-run blast off Shohei Ohtani put Toronto on the brink of its first title, but the Dodgers broke the Blue Jays\u2019 hearts in extra innings.<\/p>\n

Bichette subsequently agreed to a three-year, $126 million contract with the Mets. He pushed his chips onto Queens, but the baseball gods landed on black. (We\u2019ve all been there, Bo.)<\/p>\n

This moment will probably rub some Mets fans the wrong way.<\/p>\n

Then again, Dodgers fans were able to forgive Freddie Freeman for getting emotional about his time in Atlanta. Mets fans should be able to do the same.<\/p>\n
