{"id":282857,"date":"2026-06-30T22:00:38","date_gmt":"2026-06-30T22:00:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/282857\/"},"modified":"2026-06-30T22:00:38","modified_gmt":"2026-06-30T22:00:38","slug":"news-12-bronx-93-year-old-woman-identified-as-victim-of-wakefield-fatal-hit-and-run-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/282857\/","title":{"rendered":"News 12 | Bronx | 93 Year Old Woman Identified As Victim Of Wakefield Fatal Hit And Run"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Police say a 93-year-old woman has been identified as the victim of a <a data-rich-text-hyperlink=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/bronx.news12.com\/woman-struck-and-killed-by-motorcycle-in-wakefield-hit-and-run\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">fatal hit-and-run in Wakefield.<\/a><\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Lenora Campbell was struck by a motorcycle just before 2:30 p.m. Monday while she was crossing White Plains Road at East 225th Street, just blocks from her home.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Police are now identifying the motorcyclist as a 31-year-old man, who they say was riding a 2012 Yamaha YZF-R1 when he struck Campbell. He remains on the run as of Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">News 12 obtained surveillance video of the crash, which shows the 93-year-old being hit and then fly down the road as the motorcyclist continues riding eastbound on East 225th Street.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">One witness described the incident as &#8220;heartbreaking,&#8221; and said neighbors rushed to Campbell&#8217;s aid before EMS arrived.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">\u201cWe tried to stop him, but he didn\u2019t stop. He was coming too fast,&#8221; the witness said.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Police say paramedics rushed Campbell to Jacobi Hospital, where she died.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Anyone with information about the motorcyclist&#8217;s whereabouts is urged to contact the NYPD.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Police say a 93-year-old woman has been identified as the victim of a fatal hit-and-run in Wakefield.
