A 93-year-old Bronx woman walking to get food for a needy neighborhood boy was killed by a motorcycle in a hit-and-run<\/a> crash Monday, cops said \u2014 as her family urged the rider to turn himself in.<\/p>\n

Retired nurse Leonara Campbell, a great-grandmother of nine, was struck and sent flying by a biker who ran her over and chillingly stared at the carnage before speeding off on White Plains Road near East 225th Street in Olinville around 2:30 p.m., cops and relatives said.<\/p>\n

The strong-willed matriarch had been on her way to pick up her medications, candy for the neighborhood kids \u2014 and lunch for a young boy who\u2019d asked her for food, her family told The Post on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe kid was hungry, and she was willing to go out and buy him a piece of chicken,\u201d said Campbell\u2019s grandson, Rolando Barrett, 40. \u201cAnd just to step out and cross the street and get hit multiple times \u2026 We\u2019re just trying to hold it together.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a sudden death that never should have happened, and the way she looked when it was over \u2014 it doesn\u2019t look good. It doesn\u2019t look good at all.\u201d<\/p>\n

Campbell, who lived about three blocks from the scene, \u201cwas always a caring person, always looking out for the kids, always willing to give treats,\u201d Barrett said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIf she saw you, she was willing to give you food,\u201d he added. \u201cEveryone in the neighborhood knew her as \u2018Mama\u2019 because she was the eldest one in the whole area. Her spirit was always uplifting.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe was always motivating everybody, always trying to get the family together. She was just that big soul that held everybody together.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

The motorcyclist had been heading east on East 225 Street approaching White Plains Road in his 2012 Yamaha YZFR1 when he struck the senior and sped off, authorities said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Barrett said he watched disturbing surveillance footage<\/a> of the moment his grandmother was struck.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s crossing, he\u2019s flying, and he hit her. She flew up in the air, tumbled two car-lengths and stopped,\u201d he recalled. \u201cHe then dragged her, rolled over her and continued on. And then he stopped \u2014 he looked at her for a good minute, and then he left. The guy needs to give himself up, because they still haven\u2019t found him yet.\u201d<\/p>\n

Campbell\u2019s neighbor and friend of 14 years, Freddy Williams, 80, said he was stunned over how she died \u2014 because she had just complained about reckless scooter-riding kids in the area.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI could not believe that,\u201d Williams said. \u201cMe and that lady were just talking. She was telling me about these kids riding the scooters. She was telling me, \u2018I hope I don\u2019t get hit by a bike, because these people are going crazy.\u2019<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd then a kid hit her with one of those bikes, and me and her were just talking about it,\u201d he added. \u201cI went that way, and she went this way, and the guys came back and told me she got hit. She was a sweet lady.\u201d<\/p>\n

Williams recalled that Campbell often urged him to go to church, and would offer him packs of cookies.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201c\u2018No thanks,\u2019 I\u2019d say, so she\u2019d go back inside and bring me a cup of cold water, and I\u2019m glad she did because some days it was hot out here,\u201d he added. \u201cI\u2019m going to really miss her. She was my friend.\u201d<\/p>\n

Campbell was taken to Jacobi Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries<\/a>, police said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The driver had not been caught by Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Campbell \u201chad all her faculties on her\u201d and was \u201cvery mobile\u201d and independent, according to her grandson\u2019s fianc\u00e9e, Tia Hampton, 44.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201c[She] loved to nurture, to feed everyone,\u201d Hampton said. \u201cIt\u2019s just recklessness and no reverence for life. We need our mayor to crack down on these bikes.
