STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 The search continues on Tuesday for the suspect in the shooting of a 15-year-old boy on Halloween night in Sunnyside.<\/p>\n
The boy was waiting at a bus stop on Victory Boulevard near its intersection with Clove Road when the shooting occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Friday<\/a>, according to a spokeswoman for the NYPD.<\/p>\n An unidentified suspect shot the boy one time in the buttocks before fleeing on foot, according to police.<\/p>\n Police previously described the suspect as a male who was wearing all-gray clothing.<\/p>\n The victim was transported in stable condition to Richmond University Medical Center in West Brighton. He is expected to recover from his injuries, according to police.<\/p>\n No arrests have been made and the investigation continues. <\/p>\n Record low shooting levels in New York City<\/p>\n The shooting comes at a time when gun violence is declining in the borough and citywide.<\/p>\n According to the NYPD\u2019s CompStat<\/a> data, Staten Island recorded nine shooting victims and shooting incidents for the year through Oct. 26 \u2014 a nearly 36% drop from 14 in both categories during the same period in 2024.<\/p>\n The city recorded its lowest number of shooting incidents and victims in history during the first nine months of 2025,<\/a> according to Police Commissioner Jessica S.
