{"id":284009,"date":"2026-07-01T19:55:07","date_gmt":"2026-07-01T19:55:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/284009\/"},"modified":"2026-07-01T19:55:07","modified_gmt":"2026-07-01T19:55:07","slug":"manhattan-beachs-el-porto-surf-shop-mural-switches-up-to-support-world-cup-daily-breeze","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/284009\/","title":{"rendered":"Manhattan Beach\u2019s El Porto Surf Shop mural switches up to support World Cup \u2013 Daily Breeze"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A mural at El Porto Surf Shop recently got some fresh paint to celebrate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailybreeze.com\/tag\/world-cup\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">World Cup<\/a> games being held in Los Angeles, the owner announced this week.<\/p>\n<p>The mural, called \u201cThe World Surfs El Porto,\u201d is part of surf shop owner Woodrow Landfair\u2019s push to make his store, which also houses Player\u2019s Liquor, a gathering place as the World Cup continues, and the LA28 Olympics approaches.<\/p>\n<p>The mural typically depicts the ocean waves with surfers floating among them, with the L.A. landscape seen down the coast from Manhattan Beach. A propeller plane that usually carries a flag that reads \u201clocal craft beer\u201d now says \u201cWelcome World Cup\u201d as it symbolically flies over the painted waves.<\/p>\n<p>The mural often gets minor makeovers, with phrases painted atop the waves changing from \u201cGood Vibes\u201d to \u201cAwesome Lives Here\u201d over the past year, for example.
