Former Vice President Kamala Harris has initiated private talks with New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani. The outreach reportedly forms part of a wider effort to reconnect with current progressive voices as speculation about her run for White House<\/a> heightens.<\/p>\n

Kamala Harris and Zohran Mamdani are having private meetings, report claims<\/p>\n

A call reportedly happened last Thursday, just two days after Mamdani-backed candidates flipped three New York congressional seats. Harris wanted to talk about where the Democratic Party is heading and set up a longer discussion later, a source told Axios<\/a>. The two allegedly have swapped occasional texts for months now.<\/p>\n

Zohran Mamdani<\/a> confirmed the contact with Kamala Harris publicly. Speaking on SiriusXM\u2019s The Clay Kane Show<\/a>, he said, \u201cThe vice president reached out to have a conversation. We\u2019ve had a brief conversation. We\u2019ve been in touch over the last few months, and I really do appreciate her outreach.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kamala Harris<\/a> has been methodically working her way through key progressive circles for over a year. She met Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez in Chicago this April during a Black women\u2019s empowerment conference. Her team has also courted leaders from the Uncommitted Movement, the protest effort born from anger over Biden administration policy on Gaza.<\/p>\n

Last week, Harris reportedly sat with Abbas Alawieh, an Uncommitted co-founder now pursuing a Michigan state Senate seat. The former vice president has also reportedly spoken with James Zogby, a veteran Democratic National Committee member who champions Palestinian rights.<\/p>\n

This comes as Kamala Harris sits atop most early 2028 primary polls for White House. She draws rock-star receptions across the South, a region that can decide any Democratic nomination fight. Yet doubts swirl from multiple areas, including left-wing activists, centrist donors, and party insiders who question her general election viability after 2024.<\/p>\n

Neither Kamala Harris\u2019s office nor Zohran Mamdani has officially confirmed what the discussions have been about.<\/p>\n
