{"id":285452,"date":"2026-07-03T00:27:13","date_gmt":"2026-07-03T00:27:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/285452\/"},"modified":"2026-07-03T00:27:13","modified_gmt":"2026-07-03T00:27:13","slug":"nyc-drill-rapper-dad-of-3-year-old-girl-shot-dead-near-coney-island-boardwalk-cops-kin","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/285452\/","title":{"rendered":"NYC drill rapper, dad of 3-year-old girl, shot dead near Coney Island boardwalk: cops, kin"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A drill rapper and father of a 3-year-old girl was shot dead in broad daylight, steps from the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/07\/10\/five-shot-at-coney-island-boardwalk-one-in-critical-condition\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Coney Island boardwalk<\/a> this week, according to cops and reports.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Truron Roach-Martin, 24 \u2014 whose stage name is \u201cBriscoe Bands\u201d \u2014 was shot in the face and chest around 9:20 a.m. Wednesday, about a block from the ramps leading to the iconic Brooklyn boardwalk, authorities said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He was rushed to NYU Langone Hospital Brooklyn, where he could not be saved. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Truron Roach-Martin, 24 \u2014 whose stage name is \u201cBriscoe Bands\u201d \u2014 was shot in the face and chest around 9:20 a.m. Wednesday, about a block from the ramps leading to the iconic Brooklyn boardwalk, authorities said.\u00a0 Kyle Mazza\/Shutterstock<\/p>\n<p>Roach\u2019s mother, Christine, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2026\/07\/01\/brooklyn-man-24-shot-to-death-near-coney-island-boardwalk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">told the New York Daily News<\/a> her son \u201cwas loved\u201d and left behind a 3-year-old daughter.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe didn\u2019t bother nobody,\u201d Roach said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cMark my words, this murderer will be caught, and he will be prosecuted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Briscoe Bands had recently signed to a label \u2014 leading his mom to believe the murder was motivated by \u201cenvy and jealousy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis career was taking off,\u201d she told the paper. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe was a young black man coming up in the music business.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Martin was taken to NYU Langone Hospital Brooklyn, where he was later pronounced dead. Kyle Mazza\/Shutterstock<\/p>\n<p>The NYPD had not established a motive in the slaying by Thursday. <\/p>\n<p>The alleged killer fled east on West 28th Street toward Mermaid Avenue, they said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe don\u2019t know what happened,\u201d the rapper\u2019s grieving mom added to the paper. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re very much affected by this loss. My family doesn\u2019t go through things like this. Everybody is hurting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Police haven\u2019t determined a motive in the slaying of the rising rap star.
