More New Yorkers\u00a0have\u00a0already\u00a0voted in Tuesday\u2019s election<\/a>\u00a0than in all of 2021 \u2014 with the Big Apple on track to break even more historic records in the widely watched race.<\/p>\n

By afternoon Tuesday, some 1.19 million voters had already checked in to cast their ballots in the\u00a0widely-watched mayoral race<\/a>, Board of Elections figures show.<\/p>\n

A total of 1.15 million people voted in the last mayoral election \u2014 including just over 250,000 early and\u00a0mail-in ballots.<\/p>\n

Some 462,000 people had voted by midday Tuesday while just under 900,000\u00a0New Yorkers turned up on Election Day in 2021 when Mayor Eric Adams eventually secured the win.<\/p>\n

Polling locations across all five boroughs weren\u2019t set to shut until 9 p.m.<\/p>\n

As of midday, just over 395,000 had cast votes in Brooklyn and 328,000 in Manhattan, according to the Board of Elections. Queens trailed behind with 276,000, the Bronx with 111,000 and Staten Island with 82,000.<\/p>\n

Democratic socialist nominee Zohran Mamdani,\u00a0<\/a>Republican candidate Curtis Sliwa and former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who is running as an independent, all voted first thing Tuesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cI voted for Cuomo. I like him. He\u2019s trying to follow in his father\u2019s footsteps, keeping the legacy\u00a0going,\u201d Omar Edwards, a 46 year-old engineer, told The Post at a Brooklyn polling location.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy mother voted for Zohran. I know nothing about the man.\u00a0You want to defund the police, tax the rich \u2013 that\u2019s the Z-man. That\u2019s all I know about him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Adrian Buckmaster, 70,\u00a0and his 56-year-old partner, Irene Delgado, both backed Mamdani.<\/p>\n

\u201cZohran is a breath of fresh air,\u201d\u00a0Buckmaster said.\u00a0\u201cI think he\u2019s straight and honest. He walks the walk. I hope it works.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIf he gets in by a good margin, I think it\u2019ll change how people see politics. It\u2019ll give the right a big jolt. It\u2019s telling how they are rallying against him,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

In a last ditch effort to sway New Yorkers, Cuomo trashed Mamdani\u2019s rhetoric and argued a ballot for Sliwa was a wasted vote \u2013 soon after\u00a0President Trump threw his support behind the former governor on the eve of the election.<\/p>\n

\u201cPresident Trump saying to the Republicans, \u2018Don\u2019t vote for Sliwa, you are wasting your vote,\u2019 that could be very helpful,\u201d Cuomo told Fox News\u2019 \u201cFox & Friends.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cPresident Trump is pragmatic. He is telling them the reality of the situation, which is if you do not vote, Mamdani is going to win. Republicans, you have to get up and come out and vote. Even if you are not voting Republican, you are voting to save New York City.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s all B.S. It\u2019s all campaign rhetoric,\u201d Cuomo added of Mamdani\u2019s promises.<\/p>\n
