A Bronx mother is speaking out after her 14-year-old son was allegedly attacked, slashed and robbed by a group of individuals in Bedford Park last week.<\/p>\n
Yadiry Perez said her son, Ashton Perez, is still recovering from the traumatic assault that she says has changed their lives forever.<\/p>\n
“My son was bleeding to death,” Perez said. “What really happened to my son, I don’t want it to happen to anybody else.”<\/p>\n
According to the NYPD, the attack happened around 10:24 p.m. on June 24 outside 2664 Grand Concourse.<\/p>\n
Investigators said a 14-year-old boy was approached by a group of unidentified males.<\/p>\n
One of the suspects allegedly grabbed the victim and pinned him against a wall while another slashed him in the arms before stealing his cellphone.<\/p>\n
Perez said her son was attacked with a machete, robbed and left severely injured.<\/p>\n
“It hurts,” she said. “I’m not crying because I’m scared. I’m crying because it’s anger that I have, frustration. This is a situation that I don’t want to happen to anybody.”<\/p>\n
The ordeal has continued beyond the physical injuries, Perez said.<\/p>\n
She claims she has received threatening messages online since the attack and now fears for the safety of her family.<\/p>\n
“I’m trying to stay strong for my kids and myself,” she said.<\/p>\n
Perez said the attack has taken a significant emotional and financial toll on her family.<\/p>\n
She said Ashton remains traumatized, forcing her to put her own plans on hold.<\/p>\n
“I was studying in medical school. I had to stop so I could take care of him,” she said.<\/p>\n
