GRANBY, N.Y. \u2014 One person was killed after they crashed their electric scooter, the New York State Police said.<\/p>\n
Around 7 a.m. on July, troopers responded to State Route 48 at Melrose Avenue in the Town of Granby for a report of the crash. The report said only the stand-up electric scooter was involved.<\/p>\n
A preliminary investigation determined that a 31-year-old man was rider the scooter northbound on State Route 48 when he failed to negotiate a turn, went onto the eastern shoulder and struck a utility pole.<\/p>\n
The state police said he was alert when emergency crews first responded. It was initially believed that he sustained non-life-threatening injuries. However, the police said he was to Oswego Hospital and died. It’s believed he sustained fatal internal injuries.<\/p>\n
The police noted that he was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. However, the helmet became dislodged during the collision with the utility pole.<\/p>\n
An autopsy will be conducted by the Onondaga County Medical Examiner\u2019s Office to determine how he died.<\/p>\n
