NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WFSB) – Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are reportedly tying the knot Friday at Madison Square Garden in New York City, drawing fans from across Connecticut to the city.<\/p>\n
Travelers departing from New Haven\u2019s Union Station said the event was on their minds as they boarded trains headed into New York.<\/p>\n
Fans make the trip<\/p>\n
Alba Crespo said the uncertainty surrounding the event was part of the draw.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s Taylor Swift at the end of the day. We really don\u2019t know what\u2019s going to happen,\u201d Crespo said.<\/p>\n
Bella Patel said she has been a Swift fan since childhood and was making the trip from New Haven hoping to catch a glimpse of the couple.<\/p>\n
\u201cI love Taylor Swift. I\u2019ve been a Swiftie since I was three years old, so I just hope maybe I can see something,\u201d Patel said.<\/p>\n
Patel said she was also bracing for the crowds near the venue.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m expecting a lot of traffic. A lot of people. A lot of congestion and hard to get around,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Some fans staying away<\/p>\n
Huge tents have gone up around Madison Square Garden to provide privacy for the event, according to the script.<\/p>\n
The Doura family was also heading into New York City Friday, but not for the wedding. Gwen Doura said she is a Swift fan and had thoughts about what the Madison Square Garden event might actually be.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m excited for her,\u201d Doura said. \u201cIf anything, I think she got married on the side. This is probably the reception. That\u2019s what makes sense to me.\u201d<\/p>\n
Her father, Greg Doura, said the family planned to attend a Broadway show and keep their distance from the wedding venue.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs much as she is a Swiftie, we are going to a Broadway show and trying to stay away from the madness,\u201d Greg Doura said. \u201cEveryone\u2019s been talking about it for the last week.\u201d<\/p>\n
