The pair announced their engagement<\/a> last August on Instagram with a series of photos captioned, \u201cYour English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,\u201d with a firecracker emoji. (Or, put in Swiftie sleuth parlance, an emoji of TNT, for trinitrotoluene, or Taylor \u2018n\u2019 Travis \u2014 get it?) The post also included a snippet of the song \u201cSo High School,\u201d another track from \u201cThe Tortured Poets Department,\u201d which fans believe is about Kelce.<\/p>\n

In the photos, Kelce is on bended knee before Swift under an elaborate floral arch. Both are wearing clothing by Ralph Lauren. On Swift\u2019s finger is what appears to be a bezel-set diamond<\/a> on a yellow gold band.<\/p>\n

The engagement ring, designed by Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry in New York, features a stone estimated to be between seven and nine carats and could have cost anywhere from $250,000 to $500,000, Ann Grimmett, the vice president for merchandising at Jared Jewelers, told The New York Times<\/a>. Swift said<\/a> on the British radio show \u201cHeart Breakfast\u201d that she had sent a video of Lubeck\u2019s work to Kelce over a year before he proposed. She was touched that Kelce had been paying close attention.<\/p>\n

The photos set off a frenzy online, as fans speculated wildly<\/a> about what the couple\u2019s wedding might look like, parsing old interviews with Kelce and even Swift\u2019s song lyrics for clues.<\/p>\n

\u201cI actually don\u2019t know people who have gotten married in the fall,\u201d Kelce said<\/a> in a 2025 episode of \u201cNew Heights. \u201cAll the weddings I\u2019ve been to, and all my friends do it in the summer.\u201d In a different episode, he told Jimmy Fallon the couple were \u201clive music people.\u201d <\/p>\n

Rumors initially swirled that the couple would wed in Rhode Island, where Swift owns a home in the Watch Hill neighborhood of Westerly, known as Holiday House, which she purchased in 2013 for $17.75 million in a reported<\/a> all-cash deal.<\/p>\n

The mansion is heavily featured in Swift\u2019s song \u201cThe Last Great American Dynasty,\u201d which tells the story of the home\u2019s original owner, the oil heiress Rebekah Harkness. Swift has also been known to throw celebrity-filled parties<\/a> at the estate, particularly to celebrate the Fourth of July.<\/p>\n
