(NewsNation<\/a>) \u2014 Tesla CEO Elon Musk<\/a> has called the New York City<\/a> ballot a \u201cscam\u201d because some mayoral candidates<\/a> appear on it twice \u2014 but there is a good reason for the layout.<\/p>\n

Musk, who endorsed independent Andrew Cuomo<\/a>, pointed out that Democrat Zohran Mamdani<\/a> and Republican Curtis Sliwa<\/a>\u2018s names appear as options twice, while his preferred candidate is listed once and is \u201clast in the bottom right.\u201d<\/p>\n

The two mainstream party candidates appear twice because they\u2019re endorsed by multiple parties.<\/p>\n

Mamdani appears under both Democratic and Working Families<\/a> party lines, and Sliwa is listed by Republican and Protect Animals.<\/p>\n

Cuomo, who was endorsed by only the Fight and Deliver party, in turn, appears once. As an independent, his name is placed after the major parties.<\/p>\n

Even if a voter were to fill in a candidate\u2019s name under both of his endorsed parties, it wouldn\u2019t count as more than one vote \u2014 it would just risk confusing the tabulator.<\/p>\n
