Punjab Meet House<\/a>, a new Punjabi restaurant from restaurateur Jimmy Rizvi<\/a>, opened Friday at the Haus25<\/a> rental tower in Jersey City\u2019s Exchange Place neighborhood.<\/p>\n

Rizvi, who has lived in Jersey City for more than 20 years, is known for several Indian hospitality concepts, including the nationally acclaimed Bungalow<\/a> and GupShup<\/a> in New York City. <\/p>\n

Rizvi said that Punjab Meet House is designed to celebrate the culinary traditions of pre-partition Punjab while presenting them through a contemporary lens.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe wanted to create a place that honors the depth and richness of Punjabi cuisine while making it approachable and exciting for today\u2019s diners,\u201d he said in a statement.<\/p>\n

The menu was developed by Chef Zahir, who also helms the kitchen at GupShup. <\/p>\n

It highlights slow-cooking techniques and tandoor preparations commonly associated with Punjabi cooking.<\/p>\n

Among the restaurant\u2019s signature offerings is Sarson Da Saag, a classic Punjabi mustard greens dish presented in three different styles. <\/p>\n

One version stays close to tradition and is served with makki di roti and cultured butter, while another reimagines the dish as a quesadilla made with corn tortillas and Amul cheese.<\/p>\n

A third version takes a more contemporary approach and is finished with toasted mustard seeds and dried fenugreek.<\/p>\n

Other menu items include Kunna Gosht, featuring bone-in goat braised for hours in a sealed clay pot, and Charra Aloo Kabuli Chana Chaat, a street-food-inspired dish with crispy potatoes, chickpeas, yogurt, tamarind chutney and fresh herbs.<\/p>\n

The beverage program also draws inspiration from Punjabi flavors, with cocktails such as a green mango daiquiri, a green chili margarita and a melon cardamom espresso martini.<\/p>\n

Punjab Meet House is located at 25 Christopher Columbus Drive and is open from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.<\/p>\n
