While Charlotte remains under water use restrictions during a persistent drought, residents are asked to take additional steps to curb use after a break in a main.<\/p>\n
Charlotte Water on Friday afternoon announced the closure of Queens Road<\/a> in the 1000 block in the Myers Park area to fix the damaged pipe.<\/p>\n Late Friday night, officials with the utility asked residents to cut back on water use, including outdoor irrigation, and said those in south Charlotte might notice a small change in pressure.<\/p>\n \u201cConservation efforts will help maintain adequate water pressure throughout the system and ensure reliable service for all customers,\u201d the utility said<\/a>.<\/p>\n Crews continued working Saturday to isolate the damaged part of the pipe.<\/p>\n The city and other municipalities imposed water restrictions in April<\/a> as hot and dry conditions intensified across much of the state.\u00a0As of July 2, most of North Carolina remained in drought<\/a>, with the northern Piedmont most severely affected.\u00a0<\/p>\n Charlotte since May 15 has been at stage 2 mandatory water restrictions<\/a>, which limit lawn watering to twice a week and ban some non-essential uses.<\/p>\n Follow us on Instagram at spectrumnews1nc<\/a> for news and other happenings across North Carolina.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n
