Roosevelt East River Drive, per the New York City Fire Department<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">A small seaplane carrying eight passengers crashed into the East River in New York City.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The plane made a \u201chard landing\u201d into the river, which separates the island of Manhattan from Brooklyn and Queens, around noon on Sunday, July 5, a spokesperson for the New York City Fire Department (FDNY) confirmed to PEOPLE.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The single-engine aircraft \u2014 which the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) identified to PEOPLE as a Kodiak 100 seaplane \u2014 crashed into the water near seaplane terminal Skyport on East 23rd Street and Franklin D.
