TD Bank, which has over 1,100 branches in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions of the United States, is closing a total of 51 locations nationwide, including seven in New York, as the company shifts to a more digital-centric retail model. <\/p>\n
\u201cAt Investor Day<\/a> last month, TD shared plans to deliver a stronger, more scalable U.S. retail presence through significant store enhancements, tech-forward digital banking capabilities, and personalized advice-led services,\u201d the company noted in a statement. \u201cWe also regularly evaluate our network to ensure we\u2019re serving our communities where they need us, which at times results in store closures or relocations to nearby neighborhoods.\u201d<\/p>\n None of the seven Staten Island TD Branches are affected, a spokesperson noted, but the following New York banks will close in the coming months:<\/p>\n 655 Avenue of the Americas, Manhattan391 Jericho Turnpike, Jericho1144 Walt Whitman Road, Melville620 Route 25A, Mount Sinai576 Second Avenue, Manhattan 14 Main Street, Hudson Falls482-484 Bergen Street, Brooklyn<\/p>\n \u201c In due course, we expect to open new stores in these communities, subject to regulatory approval,\u201d the statement continued. \u201cIn the meantime, we\u2019re committed to making these transitions as smooth as possible for clients and customers, serving them at more than 1,000 TD Bank locations or via whatever channel they choose.\u201d<\/p>\n The other branches slated for closure are in Massachusetts, Florida, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Virginia, Vermont, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Maryland, North Carolina and Washington, D.C. <\/p>\n \u201cThis is our normal course of action annually as we continue to evolve with the customer needs,\u201d Laura Nitti, president of TD Bank\u2019s retail market for Metro Pennsylvania and South Jersey, told the Boston Business Journal<\/a>. <\/p>\n During an earnings call last month, TD Bank U.S. CEO Leo Salom said the company\u2019s shift toward investing in digital and mobile abilities will \u201ccreate greater capacity for our store colleagues to provide advice to our customers on a broader suite of products and services, enabling a deeper relationship.\u201d<\/p>\n If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
