Germantown resident\u00a0Edward Navedo, 41, was arrested following an incident on Sunday, June 28, on Interstate 84, New York State Police announced on Monday, July 6.\u00a0<\/p>\n
According to the agency, at around 1:40 a.m. on the day of his arrest,\u00a0Dutchess County 911 received reports of a vehicle traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Interstate 84 near mile marker 57 in East Fishkill.<\/p>\n
Troopers, helped out by the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office, located the vehicle, a 2024 GMC, still traveling the wrong way on I-84 near mile marker 66 in the Town of Southeast, State Police said.<\/p>\n
Authorities said troopers successfully deployed a tire deflation device, safely bringing the SUV to a stop.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The driver, identified as Navedo, was the only one inside the vehicle.\u00a0<\/p>\n
During the investigation, troopers said Navedo showed signs of intoxication. He was taken to the State Police barracks in Brewster, where he submitted to a chemical breath test that measured his blood alcohol content at 0.19 percent, according to authorities.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Navedo was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, aggravated DWI with a BAC of 0.18 percent or more, and reckless driving.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He was arraigned in Kent Town Court and released on his own recognizance.\u00a0Navedo is scheduled to appear in Southeast Town Court on July 9, at 1 p.m.\u00a0<\/p>\n
