{"id":288630,"date":"2026-07-06T22:51:57","date_gmt":"2026-07-06T22:51:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/288630\/"},"modified":"2026-07-06T22:51:57","modified_gmt":"2026-07-06T22:51:57","slug":"manhattan-man-arrested-after-alleged-machete-threat-patrol-vehicle-collision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/288630\/","title":{"rendered":"Manhattan man arrested after alleged machete threat, patrol vehicle collision"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"PDq2pG_selectionAnchorContainer\" data-start=\"2469\" data-end=\"2605\">A Manhattan man is jailed after police say he threatened another man with a machete and later struck a patrol vehicle during his arrest.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2607\" data-end=\"2841\">Officers initially filed a report of aggravated assault at approximately 7:36 a.m. July 2 in the 800 block of North Fourth Street after a 51-year-old man reported a known 65-year-old suspect approached him while brandishing a machete.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2843\" data-end=\"3006\">Russell Royal Springer, 65, of Manhattan, was arrested just before 6 p.m. July 4 in the 400 block of Fort Riley Boulevard on the aggravated assault charge.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3008\" data-end=\"3263\">During the arrest, officers allege Springer drove his vehicle into a patrol vehicle, leading to additional charges of aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer and possession of marijuana.
