A Bronx mother says her family has been living in fear after someone repeatedly made what she describes as false 911 calls to her home, leading police to respond multiple times over the past three weeks.<\/p>\n
Taniuska Nunez says the late-night police visits have disrupted life for her and her two young sons, who she says are now frightened by the repeated activity outside their home.<\/p>\n
\u201cI would like to come home and rest. Instead, I\u2019m being woken up in the middle of the night with banging on my door,\u201d Nunez said.<\/p>\n
Nunez says the first calls appeared to be a mistake, but the reports continued and became more serious.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt first, knocking was a mistake, like they got the wrong number, but then it kept occurring and getting more serious each call,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Nunez says police have responded to her home nearly 10 times in the last three weeks after receiving reports of emergencies, including calls claiming there were fights and stabbings involving her children.<\/p>\n
\u201cPolice went into my son\u2019s room to make sure they were OK because of a report of two kids fighting and it was almost 4 a.m.,\u201d Nunez said.<\/p>\n
She says the repeated police responses have been frightening for her 9-year-old and 2-year-old sons.<\/p>\n
\u201cI felt scared and worried about something happening to my brother’s dog or something, is everyone OK?\u201d one of her children said.<\/p>\n
Nunez says she is also worried about her 10-year-old dog, Luna, during the late-night visits.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have a dog too and dogs are not really that friendly at 4 a.m. when you\u2019re banging on the door, my dog is defensive. I don\u2019t want anything happening to my dog,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Nunez says she had posted a sign on her front door that reads: \u201cWe have not called 911 for an emergency. We are being pranked.\u201d<\/p>\n
She says she has tried reaching out to police for help but feels her concerns have not been taken seriously.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey kept saying it\u2019s not harassment,\u201d Nunez said.<\/p>\n
Nunez says she was told her address has been flagged because of the repeated calls, something she worries could impact response times if a real emergency happens.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have medical problems myself. I have two younger kids. The area is not the safest. God forbid something else happens, what if they don\u2019t get here in time because I keep getting prank-called,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
News 12 reached out to the NYPD for comment and had not received a response at the time of publication.<\/p>\n
Nunez says she fears the situation could escalate.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf they do knock over my door and shot someone by mistake, not their fault because they were just responding to a call… this isn\u2019t OK.
