Walgreens will pay more than $1.6 million in restitution to more than 570 workers at three Brooklyn stores, along with $163,000 in civil penalties.<\/p>\n

Three Walgreens locations in Brooklyn were hit with civil penalties and will pay more than $1 million in restitution for workplace violations.<\/p>\n

Walgreens will pay more than $1.6 million in restitution to more than 570 workers at three Brooklyn stores, along with $163,000 in civil penalties, according to the city Department of Consumer and Worker Protection<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The company failed to provide workers with 72 hours\u2019 advance notice of work schedules and required employees to work additional hours without the notice or consent mandated under the\u202fFair<\/a> Workweek Law, among other violations<\/a>, officials said.<\/p>\n

The Walgreens settlement covers workers at stores at 1847 Rockaway Pkwy., 755 Broadway and 3000 Church Ave. in Brooklyn. The violations covered June 1, 2018, through Nov. 30, 2025, according to amNY.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cWhen a company shorts a worker on their schedule or their time off, that worker pays for it \u2014 missing their kid\u2019s pickup, losing a shift they were counting on, scrambling to find childcare with two days\u2019 notice,\u201d New York City Mayor Zohran\u00a0Mamdani said in a statement.<\/p>\n

In addition,\u00a0Allstar Security & Consulting,\u202fCalzedonia (Intimissimi) and Kinship\u202fCoffee\u00a0were found violating worker protection laws.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone\u2019s time is valuable but too often, workers are treated as if theirs isn\u2019t,\u201d said Deputy Mayor for Economic Justice Julie Su. \u201cWhen an employer drops a schedule on their workers without notice or punishes them for not being able to take a last minute shift, it\u2019s an abuse of power.”<\/p>\n
