STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Borough voters have been casting their ballots for more than a week, and finally the long-anticipated start of vote reporting begins: It is Election Night 2025 on Staten Island.<\/p>\n

NICOLE MALLIOTAKIS SAYS \u2018I\u2019LL WORK WITH WHOEVER PREVAILS\u2019<\/p>\n In an Election Night interview on NY1, Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, a Republican who represents Staten Island and part of Brooklyn in the U.S. House, looked ahead to a new mayoral administration for NYC.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ll be happy with anybody but Mamdani,\u201d Malliotakis said, but also said that she believed the candidate that she has endorsed and supported, Curtis Sliwa, was \u201cthe best candidate for the job.\u201d<\/p>\n She also touched on former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who is running as an independent candidate. <\/p>\n \u201cI could not support Andrew Cuomo and endorse him, why?\u201d she said. \u201cBecause I fought against his policies in Albany for 10 years.\u201d<\/p>\n She continued, \u201cBut if he wins tonight, I\u2019d actually be happy.\u201d<\/p>\n She said that she is not a Mamdani supporter because of his policies, saying she believes her feelings align with \u201ca lot of people who don\u2019t like socialism and fled socialism.\u201d <\/p>\n Her mother fled the suppressive regime in Cuba. <\/p>\n Ultimately, though, she said \u201cI\u2019ll work with whoever prevails.\u201d She said, \u201cI have to,\u201d as the Republican congressional representative from NYC.<\/p>\n 7:22 P.M. — MORE THAN 123K STATEN ISLANDERS HAVE ALREADY VOTED<\/p>\n In 2021, the last mayoral election, 107,163 total votes from Staten Islanders were collected, with about 5,250 of those absentee ballots.<\/p>\n As of 6 p.m., Staten Island voting had blown that number away, with the Board of Elections reporting that 123,827 Staten Islanders had cast votes. <\/p>\n More than 7,000 absentee ballots from Staten Islanders have been counted. <\/p>\n 7:13 P.M. — THERE\u2019S STILL TIME TO VOTE!<\/p>\n Polls close in New York at 9 p.m.<\/p>\n If you have not voted yet, there is still time; check out our comprehensive guide to this year\u2019s ballot before you head to the polls.<\/p>\n >> 2025 STATEN ISLAND VOTER GUIDE<\/a> <<<\/p>\n Across Staten Island, the candidates vying for office have been working to get voters to the polls.<\/p>\n If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
