Yonkers Mayor Mike\u00a0Spano\u00a0today announced Yonkers City Hall TV received a prestigious New York Emmy Award nomination in the category of Military News. It is the station\u2019s fourth nomination since entering the competition in 2024.<\/p>\n

\u201cRecognition like this reinforces the importance of sharing the stories that define our community,\u201d said\u00a0Mayor Mike\u00a0Spano. \u201cHonoring a 100-year-old World War II veteran and preserving his firsthand account ensures that the legacy of Yonkers\u2019 hometown heroes will continue to inspire generations to come.\u201d<\/p>\n

The nominated piece,\u00a0Yonkers Hometown Hero<\/a>, shares the remarkable story of Carelton Davies, a 100-year-old U.S. Navy veteran\u00a0and Yonkers resident whose courage and service during World War II stand as a testament to an entire generation\u2019s sacrifice.<\/p>\n

All productions can be viewed on\u00a0Yonkers City Hall TV<\/a>\u00a0Channel 78 on Optimum, Channel 39 on Verizon,\u00a0www.yonkersny.gov<\/a>,\u00a0\u00a0the City of Yonkers\u2019 social media platforms along with Mayor Mike\u00a0Spano\u2019s\u00a0YouTube<\/a>\u00a0channel. The City of Yonkers also operates the Yonkers Public Schools\u2019 Board of Education Channel 75.<\/p>\n

Previous nominations have included Public Affairs Series,\u00a0Your Yonkers Now\u00a0and Interactive Media for\u00a0Yonkers Pizza Madness.<\/p>\n

The New York Emmys are part of the New York Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences. The award ceremony is scheduled for October 10 in New York City.<\/p>\n
