The polls have now closed in the 2025 NYC Mayor\u2019s Race<\/a> between Democratic nominee Zohran Mamdani, independent candidate Andrew Cuomo and Republican nominee Curtis Sliwa.<\/p>\n

All that\u2019s left after months of campaigning and 10 days of record voting is the counting of ballots. The NYC Board of Elections<\/a> is releasing the results of all early voting, Election Day<\/a> and scanned mail ballots counted throughout the evening Tuesday from across the five boroughs.<\/p>\n

The first flash had Mamdani with about 50% of the vote, with 65.8% of the ballot scanners counted. He has about a 135,000-vote lead on Cuomo.\u00a0

The mayor\u2019s race that has dominated the headlines for weeks sparked a renewed political energy in New York City. Moments before the polls closed, the NYC Board of Elections announced that 2 million voters had participated<\/a> in the election \u2014 the first time since 1969 that a mayor\u2019s race had that many votes.<\/p>\n

After five straight mayoral elections with less than 30% turnout, more than 1.7 million votes had been cast as of 6 p.m. Nov. 4.<\/a><\/p>\n

As all eyes are on who will be elected New York City\u2019s 111th mayor, the votes will also be coming in for the city comptroller, public advocate, borough president and City Council races. Numerous judgeships and six ballot questions impacting the state Constitution and City Charter were also on the ballot in this year\u2019s general election.<\/p>\n
