Resorts World today announced the 28 nonprofit organizations selected to receive $10,000 grants through its \u201cA Day of Giving\u201d initiative, a commitment of $250,000 in honor of America\u2019s 250th anniversary that grew to $280,000 when each property added a bonus grant of its own.\u00a0Making a meaningful impact in communities across New York State.<\/p>\n
Created to commemorate the 250th anniversary of American independence, the initiative celebrates the spirit of service by investing directly in the nonprofit organizations that strengthen neighborhoods, expand opportunity and improve the lives of New Yorkers every day.<\/p>\n
More than 400 nonprofit organizations from across the state applied through an open call for the grants. Recipients were selected through a random drawing across Resorts World\u2019s three New York regions, and with so many deserving organizations, Resorts World couldn\u2019t stop at 25. Each of the company\u2019s three properties awarded one additional grant, bringing the total to 28 organizations and $280,000: sixteen (16) in the New York City<\/a> region, six (6) in the Hudson Valley and six (6) in the Catskills, each receiving $10,000.<\/p>\n \u201cAmerica\u2019s 250th anniversary is an opportunity to reflect not only on our nation\u2019s history, but on the people and organizations that continue to shape its future,\u201d said Robert DeSalvio, President of Genting Americas East. \u201cThese nonprofits represent the very best of New York.
