On July 6, 2026, the Sag Harbor Village Police Department requested the assistance of the New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) in connection with a boating collision that seriously injured two passengers. Following the preliminary investigation, the New York State Police adopted the case. At approximately 10:07 p.m., Sag Harbor Village Police received a report of a boat that had struck a jetty in Sag Harbor Bay.<\/p>\n
The investigation revealed that the operator of the vessel, later identified as Peter Mangiameli, 57, of Southampton, was operating a 2023, 35-foot Cruise Boat from Sag Harbor Bay into the harbor when the vessel struck a stone jetty causing significant damage. There were eight passengers aboard the vessel and two sustained injuries. After the collision, Mangiameli docked the vessel at a local dock where officers from the Sag Harbor Village Police Department responded and rendered assistance. Mangiameli left the scene while the injured passengers were receiving medical treatment.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The two passengers who sustained serious physical injuries were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Their injuries included a broken rib, leg fracture and vertebrae fracture.<\/p>\n

Multiple violations of the NYS Navigation Law<\/p>\n
